Closure of the EAD

The DAE (Export Accompanying Document) is usually issued at the exporter's facilities and finalized once it arrives at the customs enclosure.

We have handled several shipments where the exporter sells under FCA Spanish Port terms, delivering the goods by truck to a warehouse, where they are unloaded and subsequently loaded into a container.

In these cases, if we do not have the container number beforehand, the DAE is issued without this information. Consequently, it cannot be finalized unless a modification is made.

For these specific shipments, it is crucial to request the assigned container from the shipping line so that the container number(s) can be included in the DAE.

We have also finalized DAEs for air freight shipments (which are completed at the airport) as well as for LCL (less than container load) maritime shipments (which are finalized with the consolidator at the customs warehouse) without experiencing any issues.

The critical points to consider for finalizing the process without incidents are:

1-The customs of exit process: The electronic arrival message and the effective exit message.

2-Status check: Mandatory online consultation and the 90-day expiration period.

3-Alternative proof of exit: If the DAE is not finalized automatically, alternative proofs of exit must be sought.
