The EORI is linked to customs operations and enables the importer or exporter to be uniquely identified by the authorities. It is required by businesses and, in certain cases, individuals carrying out customs operations within the European Union. It is used to complete various formalities and declarations with Customs.
It is not exactly the same as a tax identification number (NIF). Although in Spain the EORI number is usually linked to the operator’s NIF, they are identifiers with different functions. It is recommended that you obtain it before carrying out your first customs operation, to avoid problems or delays in clearance.
